For anyone who didn't make it to the Fireside on Sunday Evening at the church, you missed a truly inspiring experience. Wes and Erin Godfrey shared their amazing journey leading up to the day that an F5 Tornado completely destroyed their home while they were hiding in a Safe Shelter underneath it. Wes and Erin spoke of the tender mercies, the experiences where they knew that Heavenly Father was watching over, preparing and protecting them from what was about to happen even two years before the actual tornado. They both bore testimonies of prayers being answered, tender mercies being extended and gratitude for lessons learned from this challenge. The slide show with photographs of the damage along the 47 mile path of the tornado, was chilling. Miracle after miracle took place in that small Iowa community that week. Wes told of the dedication of home teachers and men in the ward and encouraged each of us to recognize the importance of this program of the church. Erin spoke of food storage shared with their family... food storage that is generally thought of for our own families, but that had been shared by their Relief Society sisters in the emergency. The outreach of the ward members in a ward much smaller than our own was phenomenal.
No doubt, Erin and Wes experienced a miracle. Being preserved through this experience was not just a blessing to their families and loved ones, but, it was truly evident last night, that their safe return was and is a gift to us all.

I wished we could have went, everything I have read about their experience just makes me feel so blessed. I think we are so lucky to have prayer. It is one fo the greatest gifts we were ever given.
